Leading Estate Planning Attorney in Philadelphia Since 1981 A recognized advocate of the disabled and elderly in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, I successfully instituted suit under the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 on behalf of an Alzheimer's victim who was the subject of discrimination by a nursing home. I also litigated successfully under the Pennsylvania Consumer Protection Laws on behalf of a Pennsylvania nursing home resident who was improperly discharged after applying for medical assistance. In addition, I favorably settled a civil rights class action, commonly referred to as the "Hurly" settlement, on behalf of spouses of nursing home residents whose assets were being improperly reduced by Pennsylvania’s incorrect application of the Medicaid law. Widely recognized as an expert on financing of long-term care and protecting patient rights, I have written and lectured frequently on various aspects of the rights of the elderly. I also co-authored the Older Adults Protective Services Act and contributed to Pennsylvania's modern Guardianship laws. Early in my legal career, I served as the Executive Director of the Senior Citizen Judicare Project of Philadelphia (now The Senior Law Center), a project of the bar association serving low-income senior citizens. I am past Chair of the Board of Directors of the Senior Citizen Judicare Project and treasurer of the Board of Community Legal Services, Inc. My current Board Service includes The Senior Law Center, The Alzheimer's Association Delaware Valley Chapter, where I serve as Vice Chair, the Center of Advocacy for the Rights of the Interests of the Elderly.
